    1. I've found this edition. The cover tells a lot about the ancient myths, sort of, reenacted by Wells.(movie)The book (first published in 1896) offers an introduction by the nephew of Edward Pendrick (EP), the main hero of the story. Heir and nephew, Charles tells us that by the year 1887 a ship called Lady Vain somehow got lost in these coordinates: 1º south and 107º west. His uncle was on board; and he was later (1888) picked up at 5º 3’ south and 101º west, drifting in a small boat. Charl [...]

    3. This Hardback Graphic Novel is the adaption from H.G. Well's The Island of Doctor Moreau. This one is a creepy story told with creepy illustrations. Pendrick (our main protagonist) tells us how he came to land on the remote Island of Doctor Moreau. We also meet Montgomery who helps Pendrick when cast away from his original boat and Moreau on the Island.I found this a creepy, disturbing and brutal story about how (some?) Humans take things way too far especially in the name of 'Religion' and 'Scie [...]

    4. It's a nice short read, but quite scarce on anything other than the storyline. It should be appreciated for the time it was written, and for being at the forefront of the sci-fi genre, but I won't be in a hurry to re-read this one, especially not before rereading his more renound novels.

    5. A well told tale (superior to the movie versions), good art, excellent dialogue (from the Wells original), and all around an enjoyable dark tale/tragedy.

    6. Pretty decent graphic novel to remind yourself of the story but definitely read the original text first because it can be slightly confusing and jarring in points.

    7. The lone survivor of a shipwreck, Edward Prendick, is rescued by Dr. Montgomery and taken to a remote island where the doctor treats Prendick's wounds. The island is inhabited by only 2 humans, Dr. Montgomery and vivisectionist Doctor Moreau. Once Prendick recovers enough from his injuries to explore the island, he sees many odd creatures that seem to be half-animal and half-human. Most of the creatures are able to speak some intelligible words, to walk upright, but are horribly disfigured by Do [...]

    8. A quick fun H.G Wells read that I enjoyed while on vacation. The story of a "lost" man, who just happens to be a biologist, and is rescued at sea and eventually makes it to the island of Doctor Moreau--a scientist who vivisects animals to form them into humans. It's a dark adventure story and a not too subtle comment on society. I enjoyed it and found that a passage near the end stayed with me for a while after I finished it. Spoiler alert.ter Prendrick makes it off the island and returns to civ [...]

    9. An interesting look into the beastial side of humanity, set in isolation of a tropical island and sparking the horrors of biological splicing. H.G. Wells has always been one to ignite the imagination and The Island of Doctor Moreau is no exception. In vein of my pop culture roots, I had visions of the similar Simpsons episode when I began reading it, but was pleasantly surprised with the differences in the story lines. Definitely worth a read.

    10. I'd read The Island Of Doctor Moreau years ago as a teenager, and boy, how much I missed!! This time I was horrified by the extreme cruelty of Moreau and the blatant racism of several descriptions of the poor beast-people. If nothing else, Wells ' story aptly illustrates the depths to which human nature can sink.

    11. This book has been on my to-read list for a while, and I am glad I finally got around to reading it. I enjoyed the framed story style which was common for that era, as well as the interesting theories and ideas which are raised by the story. Truly one of the greats in Victorian science fiction.

    12. Really a great book. Pretty scary but really gripping story that raises controversial themes. Its Sci-fi but not to the extent that non sci-fi fans should be put off.

    13. I need to read some other people's analysis to help me understand what the heck happened in this book, but I was really disappointed by what felt like an incredibly racist science fiction novel.
