    7. “Is it possible to be both, a terrific father and a terrible man at the same time? A man to admire and a man to hate?”This story is an amalgamation of lies, deceit, and regret…a lot of regret! The plot was quite engaging, so much so that it made it hard to let go of the book once I started sinking into its gripping pages. There wasn’t a moment of dullness as the story kept flowing, getting more and more intricate, without being too overwhelming.“Maybe we make our own place in stories. [...]

    8. Lies simmering on the back burner. Bring to a rapid boild, wowzers, watch the spillover seeping onto the innocent and onto the guilty as well. Continuous rushing leaves her breathless with her head down and feet planted on each step. As she raises her head slightly, Cecily comes into contact with a mass [...]

    11. I love Catherine McKenzie’s work, and this novel, although different from her other books, was just as enjoyable a read.On October 10 at 10 a.m. an explosion decimates an office building. Three women who escaped the tragedy are forever marked. Their stories are told in part because a documentary filmmaker interviews them about the experience. Told from the alternating points of view of the three women, lies and deceptions are slowly unveiled right until the very end, which had me smiling and t [...]

    15. 3.5 starsThis psychological thriller revolves around three women whose lives are profoundly affected by a disaster. Their names are Cecily, Franny, and Kate. *****The story: Cecily Grayson, running late as usual, was hurrying to meet her husband Tom when his Chicago office building blew up in front of her eyes. Shocked into immobility, with ashes raining down on her, Cecily just stared at the building until a stranger grabbed her hand and yelled 'run.' Cecily's savior was Teo Jackson, a document [...]

    16. Definitely a lot of lying going on in this book! Uncovering them will keep you engaged until the end! This one starts off strong with an explosion in a building and people running for their lives. 17. In Catherine McKenzie's The Good Liar, it was on October 10 at 10:00am that a building exploded killing over five-hundred people. Now, one year later, “Triple Ten” is being remembered. Told in three alternating perspectives, The Good Liar follows three different women as they reflect on where life has led them post-explosion. Only it's not quite that simple. One ran away, one ran towards, and one found herself stuck smack in the middle of this high-profile tragedy, and boy are there a ton of [...]

    18. Read this review on Julie's BookshelfCan I start off by saying the cover of this novel is just gorgeous? Big high five to whomever designed it. This one is quite hard to review as I hate giving away spoilers, and sharing too much on this novel will only expose the thrills beneath its beautiful cover. So, bear with me through this one as I try my best in telling you why you NEED this book, hopefully without spoiling this read for you. While this was my first read by Catherine McKenzie, it will not [...]

    19. **5 Stars**This was my first read with the Traveling Sisters reading group on , and I had a lot of fun seeing what other readers thought of the book every step of the way through it! Cecily's life is torn to pieces when the two people she loves - her husband, Tom, and her best friend, Kate - are killed in an assumed terrorism-related attack on their workplace. As if that wasn't devastating enough, Cecily becomes the face of the tragedy when a photographer and documentary maker, Teo, captures Ce [...]

    21. I had the chance to read this book early and it was one of those books that kept me turning the (virtual) pages until the end. The end even made me want to turn pages because I'd bonded with Catherine's characters and wished I could follow them (well, some of them) home. This book is a mystery, inside a puzzle, inside a tragedy that is steeped in lies. You won't want to put it down. It's no secret I'm a huge Catherine McKenzie fan, but it is always wonderful when you love an author and you've re [...]

    22. Oh. My. Goodness!!!!My favorite Catherine McKenzie novel yet (and that is saying something)! There were so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming, but looking back, I can't believe I missed. this is my favorite kind of novel, the one you can't put down and must know more. I read this in just a few sittings and was utterly enthralled from the first page. Read this book and thank me later.I received an advanced copy from the Great Thoughts' Ninja Review team. All opinions are my own.

    23. In her latest, Catherine McKenzie continues to prove she’s a master at crafting psychological thrillers. In The Good Liar, we follow three women—Cecily, Kate, and Franny—in the aftermath of a horrific tragedy through their web of lies, secrets, and deceit. The story is layered with superb twists and expert pacing, deftly building in suspense until its stunner of an ending. A compulsive read that kept me guessing!

    24. Catherine McKenzie is a fantistic author. Someone that I have had the pleasure to talk to via her Facebook group. Her writing style is amazing and it never fails to draw the reader in from the very first page and continues to hold them captive until the very last. The is a master at crafting physiological thrillers, this book is simple no exception. Catherine's stories are always multilayered making you guess and when you think that you have everything figured out shocking you with something dif [...]

    25. I'm a huge Catherine McKenzie fan and was fortunate enough to read an advance copy of THE GOOD LIAR. Pre-order it right now, because it's her best yet. Compulsive reading, it's a twisty, turny story about secrets, lies, betrayal, and the shifting boundaries between the private and the public in the aftermath of a news-worthy tragedy. Nothing is quite as it seems with the three point of view characters, and I had very strong reactions to each of them. The different motivations of these women will [...]
