    1. I loved Orchids of War! The characters were well developed and I wanted to know – throughout – what was going to happen to them next, even though I knew that WWII would start. People may not agree on the extent of Japanese espionage in the US before the war, but the research that went into this book is obvious. Beyond being an entertaining read, the book made me think about things I never considered. A very good read!

    2. Frisino crafts a complex, compelling and largely untold story with engaging characters. I feel I got to know the main characters well through their actions, her vivid descriptions and the credible dialogue. I am eager to read the sequel, to see how these characters come through the war, and how their worlds are changed.

    3. Reviewed by David K. McDonnell for Reader Views (01/17)“Orchids of War” by Denise Frisino is an intriguing mystery set during the months prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. A young and attractive Seattle woman (of German and Irish heritage) is enamored with Japanese culture and becomes fluent in the Japanese language. For this, she is recruited by an F.B.I. agent to spy upon Japanese agents who are, in turn, in America spying on the U.S. She takes on the role reluctantly at first, [...]

    4. A lot of research has been put into this book. Reader introduced to a unique perspective of the beginnings of the war with Japan. Can't wait for her next book.

    5. Fantastic. The pace, the history, the charactersI could not put this book down. This story builds to such an amazing tale of struggle, yes--internal as well as external, and is set in a time when America did not want to be drawn into the war that was at their doorstep. The depth of research, and implementation of historical facts throughout, made the reading seem like a walk through the build up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. I would highly recommend this book--not only not those who are interes [...]

    6. Orchids of War was on of those books that I just couldn't put down. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and if I can't sleep I will read for a few minutesg mistake with Orchids of War! I was so caught up in the story, the characters and the adventure that instead of falling asleep it kept me awake. I won't write any spoilers but the story of Billi O'Shaughnessy was captivating and kept me on the edge of seat. The author's research and attention to detail came through on each page. Hig [...]

    7. A very interesting book, could not put it down!I am interested in the history of WW 2 and am familiar with most all of the locations that were the setting for this book. This is a part of history that needs to told and has been ignored or swept under the rug for years.I can't wait for the next book.
