    1. I used this book in the University Extension course the author teaches. Overall this was a great, encouraging experience. The book served very well as a text. This wouldn't be the best choice for a first writing book. The basic information is there, but briefly stated, making it better as refresher-course material. You might say, if this were a painting, it would be impressionist.This is as warm and friendly a writing book as you could find, making it fun to read and follow. It follows a wannabe [...]

    2. Laurel Yourke was an excellent writing teacher (since retired). Her workshops were intense, supportive, and encouraging. This lighthearted how-to gives readers some of the benefit of her years of experience.
