    1. From readingandwritingurbanfantasy. At A GlanceRequiem for Blood is a hard one to rate. I gave it 3 stars because of it's originality, but I still had quite a few problems with it. The GoodRequiem for Blood is a world-building book. That's its focus. And I simply fell in love with the concept. A colony of humans who drink blood and live like vampires in the hope of one day becoming real vampires. That's just full of awesomsauce craziness. I have never read a book like this before. Olivia was a VE [...]

    2. Unlike many modern vampire stories this novel is neither a thinly concealed rewrite of a classic tale nor filled with novelty for the sake of novelty. In particular the origin story of vampires provides a reasonable explanation for their powers without making them merely humans with powers. The story centres on Olivia Cohen, who has spent the first seventeen years of her life in a gated community of immortality seekers. As daughter of the community leader she barely questioned spending her days s [...]

    3. Requiem of Blood was one exciting ride and I have to sort my thoughts in order to write this review. When starting the novel, I was quickly drawn in by the unsual dark world the novel is set in. There hardly seems to be any happiness and if there is a small glimpse of joy one can be sure it'll be destroyed soon.Olivia is living in some crazy community (financed by her mother's wealth) where people long to be vampires and live the life of these nightly creatures in order to be prepared for a poss [...]

    4. I believe I've mentioned before that I love me some vampires. :) I particularly love it when an author takes the vampire myth and makes it their own. Alexandra Hope accomplished this with Requiem for Blood. And although I felt the storyline meandered at the beginning, I quite enjoyed it.Requiem for Blood is very unique as it blends Asian and Western myth together. I liked the way in which Ms. Hope connected the vampire myth with the kitsune. Another unique aspect is the strong cast of supporting [...]

    5. You can also find this review at girlinthewoodsreviews.blospotDetailed Review: To be honest, I don't really appeal to stories that involve vampires or stuff of the like (although I go for werewolves more) but in the end this book totally rocked my world. This is not some Twilight book you'll expect, this is something different, something NEW, which I totally drank it like ironically, a vampire drinking blood. Because of this book, I look at vampires in a whole different light, because it is real [...]

    6. I'm just not sure about this book. It took me a while to get through because I had to make myself read it. The story sounded great from the description and it started out alright, however, I just kind of found myself bored with it. I thought the characters were wonderful and I liked the idea of it, but something just seemed missing for me. I got about halfway through it and stopped caring. I wish I could put my finger on what discouraged me about, but I can't seem to do it. Maybe I'm not in the [...]

    7. I feel somewhat contradictory to this book. Did I like it? Yes! How much? I do not know. Initially I was a bit puzzled, but I can say that my patience it was worth it.There are many things that I liked and some that I do not accepted easily. I wished to be a part of the happy ending or maybe hope even a tinier one, but everything is going in very dark shades of gray. At the same time I appreciated these dark shades and the author’s approach. That's because Requiem for Blood is different from ot [...]

    8. Olivia grew up in a cult – a cult lead by her mother, Mar, and is dedicated to becoming vampires. Subsisting nearly entirely on a diet of human blood, they enjoy many advantages, but the final goal of changing and becoming a true vampire still eludes them, they need that one last key.Olivia and her friend have many doubts about the lifestyle the cult espouses and even more trouble with the daily life and the combat regime until Olivia finally reaches her 17th birthday and her rite of passage- [...]

    9. The beginning of this book is very confusing. Olivia opens with a strange dream in which she believes her best friend, Noah, is being killed. The setting is odd, a colony of what I assumed were actually child vampires. They're in class at night and clearly secluded. Their classes are not exactly normal. She starts in human anatomy, an innocent sounding class. Until she's called to explain the best places to feed from a human. Ok, still innocent sounding, and everything seems to be pointing towar [...]

    10. "You are telling me that drinking another human's blood has enhanced your senses to near animalistic?" This book has a whole different take on the traditional vampire traditions. A view that I found quite intriguing. Olivia is a blood drinking human in a secluded colony of blood drinking humans. These humans basically live the life of a vampire while searching for the key to becoming a true vampire. Olivia, the main character, is the daughter of this colonies leader and unknowingly embarks on an [...]

    11. Requiem for Blood was different to what I was expecting. It is very dark, gory at times and also has several rather sad moments. The book is about Olivia, a teenage girl who has spent her entire life in a colony of humans who want to be vampires. They hide away from the sun and slaughter other humans to then drink their blood in the hope that one day the will become true vampires. Olivia deals with a moral struggle about the life she lives that is only made worse when she is turned into a full v [...]

    12. Although Alexandra Hope chose to interpret the Vampire genre in an interesting and original way I was never fully convinced by the 'colony' and the ideals they held and felt they the story should have explained more about why and how they chose to live the way they did.I could not help but like the character of Olivia, despite her natural flaws, as I felt that she struggles with her urges and fights to maintain some sense of humanity. Her relationship with Noah and Troy are the ones which provid [...]

    13. This was an intriguing vampire novel with an entirely new kind of premise. I had trouble understanding the whole idea behind the "colony", and I think a little more back story would have been good, especially on Noah and Olivia's relationship. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book. It was uber creepy, just what I love in a vampire book! Olivia was a great MC, and I loved watching her journey as she tried to decide who she really is and what she wants to be. This is a dark book with lots of [...]

    14. I read the first five pages before I had to put it down and never return to it. The writing was atrocious. I mean, there were sentences that were totally fractured and others that simply didn't make sense. It reeked of amateur writing. I didn't really have high expectations to begin with, but I very quickly realised that there was no way I was putting myself through this book. I wish I could push through the writing, because the story itself seems really fresh and interesting. It has promise, but [...]

    15. This story was a jumbled up mess. The beginning was so confusing. All I got was there was a colony of home-schooled wanna-be vamps who tried to survive on blood alone. The book was a free kindle, but it is no longer available as a kindle at all. I think I only finished about 12% of the book before giving up on the mess. This is the book that I had to take a break from, twice.

    16. woohooi won this book from 's giveaway. will arrive 3-4 weeksi can't wait to read it.x u ALEXANDRA HOPE :)
