This is a nice little book written 100 years ago covering the very slow adoption of the sun centered solar system of Copernicus for which Galileo was condemned by the Catholic church for heresy in 1633.I had thought previously that the publication by Newton of the Principia in 1687 ended that debate, but it certainly did not. It took another 100 years before the Catholic church very quietly removed both the works of Copernicus and Galileo from the list of heresies. And still for another 150 year [...]
